Hello everyone. Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Mike Deaton and I hail from Ashland Ohio. As you can see from the photo above, dogs are an important part of my life. The photo above is of my partner, Odett. He was imported from Budepest, Hungary and I had him for 9 years. He passed away in October, 2003. Odett was dual certified in General Utility and Narcotics. Odett boasts an arrest record of 254 drug bust during his career. I really miss this old boy. I retired on June 30th, 2002 after 27 years with the Ashland County Sheriffs Office as a Lieutenant.
I live on a small farm in the nortern part of Ashland county. We are located in North Central Ohio, about halfway between Cleveland & Columbus. In addition to my dogs, we raise and show chickens.
My wife, Becky (we call her Fred) and I have been married for almost 29 years. We have two daughters, Michelle and Melanie. Fred is the head book keeper for Discount Drug Mart. Michelle is a schoolteacher. She is married to Jason. They have a son, Austin Chase that will be three in July. He is papa's buddy. I can't wait until he gets old enough to tag along with me to the woods. Melanie is a dispatcher for the Huron County Sheriffs Office. She is married to Brian. They are expecting their first child in May.
As I said above, we raise chickens. I like the old english bantams. I have about 9 different varieties. My favorites are the Black Breasted Reds. Fred raises Buff Orphingtons and Buff Cochins in the standard breeds along with Black & Blue Cochins. We also have about five varities of Silkies, several Mille Fleurs with some White Polish thrown in for good measure. We show our chickens at the local fairs.
In addition to my Mountain Curs & Treeing Curs, we round out the household with some more dogs. Riley, a Cocker Spaniel. And of course, we can't forget the latest addition, Kiley, a Cockapoo. Chewinest thing that ever walked on four little legs. |
